Coffee Amount : 30 gms
Grind Size : Coarse
Water Amount : 360 ml (ideal coffee to water ratio is 1:12)
Brew Time : 4-5 mins
Brew Method Type : Immersion
Coffee brewing cannot get as simple as a french press method. French press gives you a dense and heady cup of coffee. This is an immersion type brewing method where coffee is left immersed in water to let the particles dissolve.
You need to be careful about the time for which immersion is carried because a longer than required immersion leads to over-extraction of particles and coffee may taste bitter.
The french-press method requires following companions:
- A french press (invest in a good quality one)
- A weighing scale
- about 25 grams of coffee
- A stirrer (we prefer not to stir but some people like to do it)
As we said, coffee brewing cannot get easier than this.
Now, once you are ready with the companions, it is time to Pressss.
THE PREPARATION
STEP 1 : Heat up the water in a container.
STEP 2 : Add coffee to the french press
STEP 3 : Pour water from the top and keep the sieve on top.
STEP 4 : Let the extraction happen for 3-5 mins
STEP 5 : Press from the top and push the coffee to the bottom.
STEP 6 : Once you've finished pressing, immediately pour coffee into a cup. Leaving the coffee to sit in french press will lead to over-extraction.
Enjoy the cup of a dense and heady coffee.
Cheers
