MASTERING POUR OVER METHOD OF COFFEE BREWING

Coffee Amount : 16-22 gms
Grind Size : Coarse
Water Amount : 350 ml (the ideal coffee to water ratio is 1:16 to 1:20).
Brew Time : 2-4 mins

Pour over is our preferred method of brewing. This methods brings about one of the cleanest cups of coffee with nuanced tastes trapped in the coffee.

Additionally, the process is so satisfying it feels like meditation. Once you indulge into it, you cannot not stop loving it.

The pour over method requires following companions:

  • The Pour Over Filter Paper
  • A Pour Over Instrument such as V60 or CAFEC flower dripper (In principle, any conical shapes instrument can be used for pour over)
  • A kettle to pour water from the top. Ideally a gooseneck kettle is recommended because it helps you control the flow of water.
  • A Carafe or a vessel to collect freshly brewed coffee.
  • A weighing scale
  • 16-22 grams of coffee

Ideally the pour over coffee can be made with the least number of instruments but having above recommended companions helps you bring the best out of your pour.

Now, once you are ready with the companions, it is time to Pourrrrrrr.

THE PREPARATION

  1. Heat up the water to about 90-95 *Cin a container and fill it up in the kettle.
  2. Put filter paper on the conical dripper
  3. Add a small amount of water to the filter and throw away this water. This step helps remove any impurity from the paper and helps you avoid any unwarranted taste in your cup.
  4. Add freshly ground coffee from the top of the filer paper and gently shake it to spread it evenly.

THE POURING

An ideal way to pour the water in pouring it in 4 steps.

POUR 1: Pour about 60 ml of water with starting in the middle and spiraling out.

Wait for about 30-40 seconds.

POUR 2: Pour the second round with about 90 ml of water again.

Wait for about 30-40 seconds.

POUR 3: Pour the third round with about 90 ml of water again.

Wait for about 30-40 seconds.

POUR 4: Pour the rest of the water slowly and let it drip completely.

Once all the water has passed through the filter paper, pour your coffee in a cup to enjoy the best feeling you can have in life.

Hope you love it as much as we do.

Cheers
